The Parish of Little Downham includes the village of Little Downham, the Hamlets of Pymoor and Oxlode and also the Droves.
The Parish is located in the County of Cambridgeshire and is about three miles North West of the City of Ely. It is one of the largest Parishes in the country encompassing several miles of the Ouse Washes drainage system which was devised by Cornelius Vermuyden in the early 17th Century. These washes are internationally important for bird wildlife including three species of swans and black tailed godwit.
The Parish, as a part of the fens, is a prime agricultural area. The main farming products are wheat, oil seed rape, potatoes and sugar beet.
A visit to the Parish will find a thriving community including a garage, convenience store, Post Office, hairdresser, butchers shop two public houses, a brewery and many other small businesses.
The Village of Little Downham has a playgroup, primary school, church, chapel and village hall whilst Pymoor has a social club and chapel, all of which fulfil important roles within the community.
